Overheard
“The greatest fashion model
I ever photographed was
Marion Morehouse.
She was
no more interested
in fashion
than I was.
But
when she put on
the clothes
that were
to be photographed,
she transformed herself
to a woman
who really would wear …
that gown.”
~Edward Steichen
The beautifully chic wide-eyed and black haired Marion Morehouse, who was later to marry famed poet, e.e. cummings and become a photographer herself, captivated the fashion world in the 1920′s with her angular frame and saucy attitude. Not only did she embody the times, that of the jazz age, the flapper and an emboldened independence, but complimented and enhanced the sleek modernist compositions of the incomparable Edward Steichen.
