Word of the Year 2008

Merriam-Webster has announced its 2008 “Word of the Year.” The winner? “Disemvowel” “Bailout,” which “received the highest intensity of lookups on Merriam-Webster Online over the shortest period of time.” And the next four in this sad and sorry Top Ten list:

4. maverick
5. bipartisan
