The Passing of Yellow

Like all cultural icons, the time comes when more is less. And we’re all better for it. Once upon a time, the phone book was a vital and ubiquitous mainstay. Really. At some point in the not too distant past people probably even celebrated the arrival of new editions on their doorsteps. These days, not so much. And those plastic-wrapped bulks of weighty uselessness just keep coming. It’s as if, all too often, someone decides you need a bigger carbon footprint. So they send you a giant paperweight.

But fret no more! You can now opt out of receiving unsolicited telephone books. W00t! [via Good]
