Truly, Madly, Deeply
We reported recently on the passing of one of cinema’s finest talents Anthony Minghella [EA 03.18.08] who like David Lean, the director he was most often compared to, directed sweeping, prestige films like The English Patient, The Talented Mr. Ripley and Cold Mountain.
In a piece out of Slate, Dana Stevens notes her absolute affection, deep regard, and inclusion on her all time favorite movie list for Minghella’s first directorial debut, a film entitled “Truly, Madly, Deeply,” a 1990 made-for-television comedy that was successful enough to gain a big-screen release and a BAFTA for Best Original Screenplay. Thanks to another fan, a wondrously charming clip from the film with Alan Rickman and Juliet Stevenson singing “The Sun Ain’t Gonna Shine Anymore.” (Alert: compulsively addictive)
