Outstanding in the Field

Plenty of restaurants have a nice patio, but Outstanding in the Field, a roving “restaurant without walls,” serves every meal in a different outdoor setting—often the very ranch or farm from which the food came. The point is to provide a unique and delicious meal and honor the people and land that produced it. They’ve taken their nomadic restaurant on five nationwide tours so far and are starting to host meals in Europe. {To my mind this is truly the “Moveable Feast.” The EA shares the enthusiasm of Alice Waters of Chez Panisse who marveled: “This is the restaurant I always imagined!”}
While the concept (that eating fresh food outside in a field is really pleasant) is simple, scoring a $150 ticket might be a little more complicated. You can sign up for their newsletter and see photos of past events at outstandinginthefield.com. [via Link]

the concept is great, the price is astronomical, and I am sorry to say the execution is uneven.
Margaret,
I, too, think the concept of “eating fresh food in a field” is great and I agree on the enormity of the price. But more importantly, you are the only person I know, personally and/or virtually, who has had the good fortune - or not - as your email indicates, of experiencing this new venue and I would love to know more. I would venture to say, the readers would, as well.
