Unearthing the Ocean’s Histories
So much coming out of TED 2008 including a presentation by geophysicist and shipwreck explorer Robert Ballard on unearthing lost histories in the ocean.
“Why are people interested in going into space, but not in exploring the ocean? We are leaving so much of the table. Seventy-one percent of Earth is ocean [...] but we went to the moon before we went to the largest feature of our own planet. Tens of thousands of active volcanoes are down there. It’s a very alive place.”
