Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton will set out to change the course of the Democratic presidential race Thursday in the first of a pair of debates with Sen. Barack Obama before March 4 primaries in two battleground states. With twelve days remaining until Texas, Ohio, Rhode Island and Vermont primaries, the candidates will go one on one in Texas in a debate sponsored by CNN, Univision and the Texas Democratic Party.
The breaking story out of the New York Times Wednesday on John McCain’s association with a female lobbyist, Vicki Iseman, eight years ago had his staffers so unhinged over “appearances” they privately urged the Senator to curtail the association. “Convinced the relationship had become romantic, some of his top advisers intervened to protect the candidate from himself — instructing staff members to block the woman’s access, privately warning her away and repeatedly confronting him…”
