Television Alert

“I don’t think in the course of my lifetime I will live through another year like 1968 in which so many momentous, historic, far-reaching changes occurred from civil rights to politics to popular culture.”

Former NBC anchor Tom Brokaw explores the tumultuous year of 1968 in a two-hour History Channel documentary airing Sunday night (9 ET/PT). Brokaw says the year offers a trove of history. [Link]

  1. Politically speaking Tom (Brokaw) may be correct. 1968 was the year. But I always felt that the following year (1969) was the defining year of the decade. I give you the following, all from the summer of 1969: Chappaquiddick (the Kennedy dynasty comes to an end), Man on the moon, the Manson murders and finally, Woodstock. I believe what sets 1968 apart were the two assassinations. Martin Luther King and Robert Kennedy. All that being said, I’ll be watching the special on 1968 this evening.
