I’m Not There: The Visual Backdrop

Cate Blanchett in the Felliniesque sequence: I’m Not There
A.O.Scott of the NY Times just came out with his review of Todd Haynes “I’m Not There” adding to the collection of critics [EA 11/19/07] and in his brilliant analysis claims that “Hayne’s hurls a Molotov cocktail through the facade of the Hollywood biopic factory.”
In a visual compendium of rich imagery, Scott’s review is enhanced with a slide show narrated by Haynes explaining how he compiled the literal images for the film starting with historical Dylan photography and portraiture, record album covers and promotional material, along with historical information and cinematic references to 60’s cinema that make up the whole psychic creative icon that became known as simply ‘Dylan.’ [MULTIMEDIA]
