Exotically Sweet Singapore

A pudding-oriented restaurant is a genius idea not to mention a caloric infusion of unimagined disproportion) so when the Les Amis group in Singapore announced they were opening Macaron, South East Asia’s first ever dessert restaurant, everyone took notice. Newly opened in June this year, Macaron is a sit-down restaurant that offers set menus for dinner and weekend afternoon tea. The four tasting menus start with savoury appetisers and move onto courses heavily centered on dessert. Brave souls can opt to substitute dinner appetisers and entrees with more dessert items. However, we wouldn’t recommend this for the 15 course degustation menu, for obvious reasons.
There is an inexhaustible list of imaginative desserts to play around with. Menu examples include dishes like the ‘Rose Bombe’, a rose petal ice cream with frozen raspberry jelly and almond nougatine encased in rose meringue, and ‘Exotic Sugar’ which fuses soft chocolate, chocolate moulleux and liquid caramel. Items are also priced individually, in case you decide to add more savoury dishes or desserts to the set menu. To top it off, the restaurant has a dessert wine pairing program to go with the menu.
