Proud Atheists

A notable read in Salon covering an interview with Steven Pinker, a leading theorist of the mind and cognitive psychologist at Harvard and Rebecca Goldstein, a philosopher and author of “The Mind-Body Problem, who the author deems America’s “brainiest couple.” Hard to fault his reasoning. Revered as “Proud Atheists,” the title of the piece, the interview probes why belonging to one of America’s most reviled subcultures (Pinker notes that confessing to being an atheist is like confessing to being a child molester) doesn’t mean they believe scientists can explain everything. Personally, I found this enjoyable, fascinating, even good humored; a kinder, gentler sort of atheism with two people who you’d love to have over for dinner.
